FAQs
What will I be doing during a session/class?
Once I know a little more about you and what your goals and intentions are for your creative life, as well as my own theme/intention of the session, we collaborate and create using the arts! I may suggest that you paint, collage, write, speak, work with flowers, be in nature…the activities are an ongoing dialogue between you and your own creativity. I maintain flexibility in my approach when working with you and I am open to adapting to your needs where possible.
This service is intended to be for individuals who are seeking more relaxation in their lives and would like to get in touch with their own inner compass, spark new ideas and do so while someone holds the creative space for making art and discovering. If this resonates for you, feel free to ask me any questions you may have, or just jump on in.
Expressive Arts can help you to get clear on your life goals and to create a new and exciting vision for your life- whatever life phase you may currently be in.
Why do i need art mentoring when i can just make art on my own?
Sometimes you have to find that “thing” (for lack of a better word)…that ‘je ne sais quois’ in your painting or art practice that you truly connect with. It’s the thing that motivates you, inspires you and allows you to powerfully create. It’s usually the thing you can’t see for yourself but it makes your eyes sparkle with joy. This can be hard to locate and name on your own, and at times it can take trying some new creative endeavors to find it- this is where I come in!
I am not a creative person. Is this service for me?
Everyone has creativity within them, it just gets expressed differently. Everyone is unique and their creativity is too. If you feel curious about trying creativity mentoring, that’s reason enough to try it. You don’t need any previous art experience. I will guide you with creative prompts and ideas to explore- it’s a learning process and we can begin where you feel comfortable!
How many sessions do I need to find my spark of inspiration?
I recommend giving one session/workshop a try and then work with a more targeted 5 or 10 week plan. Just like many things you do in life, often, it is the time and energy you put in which shows you the desired outcomes. With that being said, it’s up to you to decide what supports your own goals best!
What are your qualifications?
Creativity mentoring and group facilitation is intended to be for relaxation and inspiration purposes only. It is not therapy and I am *NOT* qualified to offer you therapeutic or medical advice. I am NOT a therapist. I offer clients a safe container for them to explore specific questions through creative expression. On my own journey, I have found EXA and nature to be the cornerstones of my self care practice and I hope to support others in experiencing that resource too. EXA can support people in the visioning process of their personal and professional development journeys.
I have earned graduate certifications in the Expressive Arts and Career Consulting, and I have an educational background in Environmental Studies. I am also an abstract painter and at times, I utilize nature as an art modality.
I offer clients what I know based on my personal experiences in learning how to find peace and creative inspiration, even amidst the challenges of life. In this way, EXA is a form of self-care that can support both individuals on a more personal level, or the well-being of employees at corporate wellness events. I have come to learn that….
Relaxation matters! No matter what.
